Traditional Sauna Versus Infrared Sauna

Age-old debates persist about new items versus old items. Fresh minds always reexamine old problems and discover new solutions. Many people do not feel that newer is always better, however. For example, many people are not very excited about the most modern forms of architecture or art. To some experts, older pieces, such as Classical sculpture from Greece or paintings from the Renaissance period represent the height of all periods of art.

New versus old can also be argued for items that are more practical as well. It is a common thing for families to refinish or replace their kitchen cabinets in order to remodel or refresh this room. Many expert carpenters recommend that you do not replace your cabinets all together if your cabinets are more than twenty years old. Today’s cabinets are simply not built as well as they were in the past unless you want to pay a much higher price. Instead, one should just refinish the cabinet doors if the paint is chipping. Everything will look as good as new at a fraction of the cost!

One emerging pattern of debate is between the Finnish sauna and the infrared sauna. The Finnish sauna, also known as the traditional sauna, is a much older version of the steam room; it has roots that go back almost 2,000 years! These saunas have a small heater in the room that one uses to heat up the sauna rocks. Once the rocks are at the proper temperature, they transfer the heat to the sauna room. If you want to create a steam, you simply pour water over the rocks.

Modern sauna manufacturers decided to make a new twist on the traditional sauna. The result was the infrared sauna. These sauna do not use heaters or rocks, you also cannot create steam. These heaters create only a dry heat. The advantages of this type of sauna is that it uses energy more efficiently than steam saunas and, as a result, the temperature does not have to get as high to produce the same results. In addition, it does not take as long to warm up so your sauna is ready when you are!

If you are considering purchasing a home sauna, then you need to start comparing the different models to find out which one is the best for you.
