Portable Steam Sauna

Have you ever taken a sauna? Most people imagine that saunas are only for those who go to day spas or are members of fancy, high-price fitness centers. That trend is changing. Saunas are quickly becoming very popular permanent home additions! Finland is credited with the invention of the modern sauna and saunas remain a very important part of Finnish culture. It is very common to take a sauna on Sunday afternoons as a way to catch up with friends. There are even more saunas in Finland today than there are cars!

The health benefits of saunas are slowly become more well known throughout the world. Although the high heat takes a little while to get used to at first, people quickly find that it is a very enjoyable experience. Not only does it increase your circulation and loosen up tight muscles, it also helps you release all the mental stress that you are under during the week. The high temperature causes you to sweat out all the toxins your skin accumulated during the course of the day and, as a result, you feel healthier and your skin is much softer!

When it comes to home saunas, you have the choice of traditional saunas or infrared saunas. Traditional saunas, also known as Finnish saunas, use heated rocks to create the sauna environment. A small, specialized heater heats up these rocks, which, in turn, heats up the small wooden sauna room. In order to create a steam, one just has to pour water over the rocks. These rooms can get extremely warm but it takes a large amount of energy to keep this room at the proper sauna temperature.

The latest innovation in sauna technology is the infrared saunas. These saunas use special infrared heaters to create the heat. However, unlike the steam sauna, these heaters focus their energy on the individuals in the sauna as opposed to just heating up the room itself. This design means that the energy to heat the room is used much more efficiently; nearly 80% of the heat created by the heaters is directly absorbed into the body. This is definitely how to sauna! This type of heat penetrates the skin’s surface and helps increase your blood circulation more effectively than that in traditional saunas.

Both types of saunas are completely safe as long as they are used in the proper manner. Start researching the type of sauna would be best for your needs!
