Does it help in weight loss or is it just beneficial to the skin? What are the benefits of a sauna and how many times do you need to do it in a week?
Saunas promote the excretion of toxins from the body through sweating, thus they are very good for health and skin. While it is true that saunas are linked to weight loss as they encourage blood to pump through your body at an accelerated rate thanks to the repressive heat (i.e. increases metabolism and burns more calories), most weight loss is due to loss of fluid.
When living in Sweden in 2005 I had my own private sauna and used it every day. I am not sure what is the recommended amount, but man I felt so good using it daily and my skin never looked better!!

While a sauna alone can not help a person lose weight it can be a great tool to use in an overall weight loss routine.

The athlete who is over the weight limit will go into the sauna before a weigh in and be able to reduce their weight enough to qualify. The reason this works is that during the sauna a person will sweat a great deal and this results in water loss which in turn reduces body weight. It is a temporary result, though. As soon as the person begins hydrating their body through eating and drinking the water weight will return. Saunas can be beneficial, though, to long term weight loss.
Sweating in a sauna also helps to rid the body of toxins and impurities which can effect the body in many ways. Toxins and impurities can effect the way the body functions, including metabolism and waste production. By using a sauna a person is getting rid of these toxins and creating a better environment within their body. Saunas also increase the heart rate and can be equivalent to a walk or jog. So some calories are burned through a sauna session.
Using a sauna for weight loss is not a sole method. Used in conjunction with eating correctly and getting regular exercise a sauna can help a person to lose weight. It is also a great way to relax after a stressful way, which will also help keep the body healthy. A healthy body losses weight much better than one that is not healthy.
