Carbon Infrared Sauna
infrared saunas?

I need to know which heat emitters are best? In the infrared saunas there are so many types and each manufacurer toutes his as the best. There are ceramic, halogen, carbon and many more. PLEASE only answer this if you really know waht you are taling about . Thanks!

Also known as the detox box…which is fabulous! I’ve done some research (because I’m a personal trainer so I not only do this myself but recommend it to my clients) and here is some info for you:

What makes The Detox Box™ the superior far infrared sauna?

Hypoallergenic Russian spruce timber: The Detox Box™ has been expertly crafted from untreated Russian spruce timber to allow for a toxin free environment, comfortable for even the most chemically sensitive person. Construction involves a solid, three layer tongue and groove timber design without the use of toxic glues. Spruce timber is strongly recommended for far infrared saunas intended for clinical use or home use especially where individuals suffer from allergies, multiple chemical sensitivities or patients are addressing health problems related to chemical or heavy metal toxicity.

Cedar (and redwood) have traditionally been associated with saunas however has been deliberately excluded from The Detox Box™ due to its ability to outgas a volatile oil called cedrene, a member of the terpine family and cedral, which is a cedar-camphor. Terpines are a group of unsaturated, aliphatic cyclic hydrocarbons, which unlike petroleum distillates, are derived from plants. They are all local irritants. Ingestion has produced gastrointestinal signs and symptoms, aspiration and pulmonary toxicity; absorption has been associated with alteration in mental status ranging from coma to seizures. Although minor, these xenobiotics will nevertheless contribute to the “total toxic burden” of the sauna user.

Basswood is also used in some sauna models. According to the Ohio Public Information Network, Basswood is light and soft, and is well suited for working. Although rather weak, it has been used for cheap furniture, containers, beekeeping supplies and various woodenware.

Optimal far infrared heater coverage: The Detox Box contains patented ceramic heating elements that have been designed to emit far infrared waves in the range 5.5 to 15 micron range only. Bio-scientific experimentation has determined that this range has the optimum effect on the body’s cells.

Why Cedar Infrared Saunas are Better Than Regular Ones

A sauna is the ultimate choice to gain many health benefits. Sauna eliminates the toxins of the body through sweat and cleans the inside of the body. An infra red sauna is also very effective in bringing a peace of mind and a state of calm after a day of hectic activities and thus, helps to relax the body both mentally and physically.

Since an infrared sauna cleans the skin too, it gets rid of acne and is a great way of getting rid of excess weight of the body. Infra red saunas are a common sight in gyms and health centers and hotels and some people may find it difficult to drive down to the gym, due to lack of time or may be, they would find it embarrassing to stay sweat in the presence of others. So, even if they are aware of the benefits and would like to enjoy, they may not do so.

But now, it is possible to enjoy the benefits of sauna at the comfort of the home by building an infrared sauna that can be installed with the help of an electrician or a technician or better still, a portable sauna can be purchased that can be moved from one room to another.

Cedar infra red sauna is the most popular kind of sauna which gives a very good look and is quite durable. The cedar is used on the outside part of the sauna and the interior is made of some lighter wood. This is made so because the inside of the sauna should be made of wood that releases non- toxic fumes. Hence, the interior can be made of Russian spruce or any other material that does not cause toxic fumes. Western red Canadian cedar is the most expensive sauna wood and due to its high cost, only a few manufacturers use this cedar wood in the outside of the infra red sauna.

Cedar wood has beautiful look and possess a nice aromatic quality. Additionally, western red Canadian cedar has very few knots and is also available with a variety of light and dark combinations. Usually, cedar infrared saunas come with a five year guarantee but some may have a life time warranty, too. But the guarantee on the wiring is very important.

Cedar infrared sauna materials can also be purchased from the local saw mill, where it is possible to get cedar at relatively low price. Cedar infrared sauna is known for its resistance to decay and is especially a popular choice for building outdoor saunas. Since cedar wood has an aromatic pungent smell, it discourages the growth of moth larvae that destroy the wood.

Cedar wood is also believed to have healing and spiritual powers by some tribal people. Cedar infrared saunas are also found to improve lung function, promote blood circulation, increase immunity to virus and assist skin care and the list is endless. Rightly enough, cedar infrared saunas are known as “saunas of life”.
